My thoughts.

{ S U M M A R Y }

The Evolution Of Mara Dyer by Michele Hodkin is the next book in the Mara Dyer series. Mara knows she can kill with her mind and that her boyfriend Noah can heal with his. She also knows her ex, Jude is alive after everyone thought he had died. Everyone thinks she is going crazy, except for Noah, whom she has to stay away from in the fear she might hurt him too. Together, Mara and Noah must try and figure out who they are and what is happened to them.

I adored this book! I liked the first one but not anywhere as near as much as I liked this one! It was such an action packed ride and so creepy and unpredictable. And it had the perfect blend of action and romance, with some very cute moments between Noah and Mara (who are ultimate couple goals, I swear, minus the whole killing healing thing of course).

The idea of this book is so goddamn brilliant. I loved how innovative the book is, and how well planned out everything is. Everything seems to happen for a reason and there's always some action or drama happening. It's so fast paced and haunting, that often, you can't tell what's real from what's not real. The book is also very unique and I don't think I've ever read a book even close to being similar to this one.

So I really had to comment on the writing of this book because of how well written it is. It's so unpredictable and creepy and I feel Hodkin's writing complements the book so well. Her writing so well accentuated the darker narrative. I feel her writing is quite balanced also, making the book a lot more enjoyable to read. It has scary moments, it has some 'OMG' moments, it has 'wtf' moments, it has cute moments and it has some very funny moments, making the book such a perfect blend.

One thing I really wanted to mention which I hadn't seen in other books was the way the chapters ended and started. The chapters would end with a really awesome cliff hanger and then start exactly where they'd left off which I, personally, adored because it meant the book didn't gloss over details.

Aha! The best part of the book. I really loved how unpredictable the plot was and how all these different things would happen and it would be impossible to guess the reason as for what. There were times where I could absolutely not stop thinking about the book.

I feel the plot was what pulled the whole story together, accentuated of course by the writing. Without the strength of the plot, the story wouldn't have had much so I suppose it's a pretty good thing this book has an awesme plot.

The only thing that I didn't really love was how sometimes things would happen and it would be WAYY too sudden and there would barely be an explanation for it. I also feel the characters kept walking in circles in some parts of the book where Mara would say something, then change her mind, then go back to what she originally thought.

I felt the characters really came together in this book, especially Mara and Noah.

Mara was beginning to change. She became more bold and confident and less reserved. She began to embrace her power rather than shy away from it, which I quite liked. In saying that, she was still quite true to herself and wanted to protect those she cared about.

Noah, I adored in this book. He seems like such a cold and closed off character but he's really not. Because when he speaks to Mara, or writes in a journal, he writes with so much emotion. He's an incredibly complex character and an enigma but it's very easy to love him because of how kind he is and how much he cares about Mara.

The relationship between Noah and Mara is so, so sweet and beautiful and well written out because they're not the type of couple that always needs to be physically touching for them to love each other. *sighs* They are literally everything!

I also wanted to mention the beautiful relationship Mara has with her family and how much they look out for her and love her!

Adored, adored, adored this book! (Lost count of the amount of times I've said that, whoops!). It's such a thrilling, dark, creepy, haunting read that's worth every second of your time. It's an absolute page turner and so, so hard to put down!
